Hi, I’m Nik.

Nice to meet you. I’m the founder of Wicked Smart, a company that started from a challenge to myself around how a one-person business could unlock bigger opportunities, leverage emerging technology to work faster and still remain highly professional and compliant with the demands of my typical client base which has always been focused on regulated businesses in financial services and consulting.

I live in Lombardy, Italy; am a husband, a father to a 1 year old girl, a self-proclaimed grill-master (with a fair amount of customer insight to support the claim) and an unpaid servant to a little Cavalier Spaniel called Manny.

My digital design journey started in university out of curiosity. I worked with small businesses doing landing pages, some editorial work while experimenting with my own projects and a vast array of new digital tools which had started to proliferate in a hurry. From this point on, I had a really keen interest in running digital experiments (even if they went nowhere).

After getting an MSc in Management from Imperial Business School I joined the growing digital practice at a major global management consulting firm in London and started to piece together my experiments with complex business challenges, mature design, strategy and operations in financial services. Since then, I have contracted with businesses like RBS, Bank of Ireland, Capgemini and AKQA to define, design and launch complex digital transformation initiatives focusing heavily on customer, colleague and partner experience.

Wicked Smart was born in 2023 as both, a new operational model and re-brand which zooms in on what I believe makes my value proposition unique and scales it into a series of tools, partners, practices and content that extend beyond ‘Nik the senior designer’. Though I remain the solopreneur ‘face’ of the operation, the company works with a refined operating model that brings together trusted talent, proprietary digital assets, advisors, artificial technology enablers and carefully documented, repeatable processes that allow me to extend well beyond the capabilities of a typical contracting engagement with companies.

My vision is to continue running an extremely adaptable, easy to work with and highly intelligent business that builds longstanding relationships with clients by being fundamentally helpful.
